Lush
The Challenge:
Design an app to solve a problem a user would have in their daily life.
The Problem:
Felix needs to upskill his mixology with what ingredients are on hand so that he can impress people at social gatherings with the best-tasting cocktails.
The Solution:
Lush offers users the resources to make cocktails at home or at parties with minimal knowledge.

Research
Proto-persona
We started off with 2 proto-personas.
Competitor Analysis
Key Takeaways:
Liquor Selection and Filtering options were lacking.
No beer or wine cocktails.
Ability to choose serving size and measurement system were helpful.
Affinity Diagram
The affinity diagram was compiled from 6 user interviews.
Key Takeaways:
Users want to control the taste or amount of alcohol for their drinks.
Users want to drink at home.
Users are not fans of non-alcoholic drinks although they are willing to learn for their friends.
User Persona
Based on the information obtained from user interviews and our affinity mapping, we came up with our user persona.
User Insight & Problem Statement
User Insight: Users need to learn how to make mixed drinks because most people do not know how to, making it an impressive skill.
Problem Statement: Users need to upskill their mixology with what ingredients are on hand so that they can impress people at social gatherings with the best-tasting cocktails.
Design
Ideation
Based on our competitor analysis and interviews, we began the ideation phase.
Feature Prioritization Matrix
Key Takeaways:
Focused approach on filters and selection.
Many features were not practical for initial design but would make good future additions.
User Journey Map
Digital Wireframes
We created digital wireframes of the application. My portion focused on the mixer function and helping to ideate the other sections of the app. We took the wireframes and created a low-fidelity prototype to test.
User Testing
Low-Fidelity Testing Results
Iterations
Issue:
Users were confused by having both a My Bar and an Account
Users were not sure what “Mixer” was
Iteration:
Combined My Bar with Account
Changed Mixer to Search
Issue:
Users were found that there were too many clicks to tailor a drink
Iteration:
Tailor page was removed and combined with main drink page to ensure less clicks and directions were edited
Issue:
Users felt the design lacking fun and were not always sure what the drink selections were
Iteration:
Drink pictures were added to have a sense of liveliness to the page and allow user to see drinks
UI Style Tile
The color palette and overall concept of design came from using an image of a margarita as inspiration. We chose the margarita because it is the number 1 mixed drink in the world.

Conclusion
Final Thoughts
We had high collaboration for this effort. I served as team lead to guide the steps of the project. To get from the idea to the final product was a lot of effort but well worth it. There was a lot of meaning and purpose behind each section.
Next Steps
Continue to test and iterate on the application. We would want to explore some of the features that were not prioritized in this round of design.
