Complia Health

Overview

The first project I worked on was to evaluate the products that Complia offers for both desktop and mobile. That evaluation resulted in a heuristic evaluation and a list of recommendations to improve the overall user experience for all the products offered. The next step in my process will be to conduct user research on customers to improve workflows and iterate on current processes.

Heuristic Evaluation

My first task at Complia Health was to conduct a heuristic evaluation on all of its products. The products that were evaluated were Continulink desktop, Continulink Mobile Edge, Continulink Clinical Edge, Suncoast desktop, and Suncoast Mobile Edge.

My methodology was simple. I made a spreadsheet listing the 10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design. Then, I created categories to evaluate how much usable a heuristic was within the system. Each violation was written down so that a log could be kept and examples could be given to stakeholders.

The main conclusion was to create a design system for Complia Health so that there would be uniformity across the platforms and to update the overall aesthetic of the design.

Design System

Continulink and Suncoast are 2 separate products that service different types of customers. I created a design system for both.

I tried to preserve the color schemes that existed in each product, but also updated some colors based on healthcare system color theory. Based on my research, blue became the primary color for both. I added complimentary colors to the primary blue to serve as secondary and tertiary colors.

In addition to color, the iconography was changed to material design. Both systems had been using a mixture of windows and free icons found from image searches. Material design was chosen because it was a clean and simple modern aesthetic. Additionally, it was easier for the developers to work with in their platforms.

Buttons, input selectors, and other components were added to the design system as well. I added several variants for each for reference for the developers and the business analysts.
